Nuevamente debemos esta magnífica digitalización de vinilo a nuestro bienamado José Félix. Me contaba que hizo un trueque en una de sus correrías por las remotas tierras al norte de la península de las 'Mil Palmeras', con unos extraños mercaderes procedentes de Venecia 'La Magnífica', él a cambio de este LP les ofreció un baúl lleno de oro y alhajas. Creo que fue un cambio justo, pues este es un LP extraordinario. Se trata de la edición Nonesuch de 1976, acuérdense que hace unas semanas compartimos el CD del mismo sello.

This LP is separated into two parts: the first is dedicated to instrumental dances taken from Terpsichore, the huge compilation of dances made or collected by the composer. As always with Munrow, we are in front of a festive view, which doesn't lack for poetry when needed (Gaillard or Sarabande). But the alchemy of timbres used by Munrow (Ballet des Coqs - Passameze - Bourée), allows a perfect differentiation between the dances, without risk of lassitude. Munrow's virtusity and sense of ornementation (cf. Music of the Crusades) is also highlighted here (Suite de Volte). The second part of the disc illustrates the art of Praetorius in the domain of sacred vocal music, where he proves his knowledge: all use a great number of voices and often a double choir. The joyful "Gott der Vater..." is here very well put in context. "Allein Gott..." is sung by soloists accompanied by instruments only. A good example of Lutheran liturgy during the 16th century.

De este CD aparecen 2 fechas de grabación: 1971 y 1976. Como no lo he visto por estos lugares y ya que José me lo hizo llegar en óptimas condiciones, hoy lo comparto.

I hate to compare, but other directors notice their first stop of his later work. Munrow is difficult to make that happen, I've already explained my views in different publications. For parties, the LP "The Mediaeval Sound" published it at the time, this is the english edition in 180gr, and fidelity hearing is remarkable. It's interesting to see what I say and invite you to compare the two editions. The american edition is flat and noisy (?) Is the vinyl quality? anything is possible.

Por partes, este LP "The Mediaeval Sound" ya lo publiqué en su momento esta es la edición inglesa en 180gr, y la fidelidad auditiva es notoria. Es interesante comprobar esto que digo y les invito a comparar ambas ediciones. La edición norteamericana es plana y ruidosa ¿? ¿la calidad del vinilo? todo es posible.

As is my tradition, the publication of this Sunday let this gem that shouldn't happen unnoticed by connoisseurs Munrow's master. Yes, this is the famous double album "Instruments of the Middle Ages and Renaissance". Saturday I shared the LP 'Medieval and Renaissance Sounds, Vol I ', which's the precursor of the LP double box before you today. It's a privilege for me to publish it in its original format, in addition to the magnificent sound of the vinyl capture. In my humble opinion, I think this album has been unsurpassed in the topic instrumental music before of Baroque; excellent instrumental arrangements, excellent pieces chosen and a delicate presentation of the box it comes the LP. The music is completely instrumental and show the full range of both instruments Medieval and Renaissance times.

This LP despite the years, don't get bored, do you mean? I say: it's pretty verb nice.

Como es mi tradición, en la publicación de este domingo dejo esta joya que no debiera pasar inadvertida para los conocedores del maestro Munrow; sí, se trata de su famoso álbum doble "Instruments of the Middle Ages and Renaissance". Ayer sábado compartí el LP 'Medieval and Renaissance Sounds, Vol. I', que es el LP precursor de la caja doble que hoy presento.

Es un privilegio para mí publicarlo en su formato original, amén del magnífico sonido de la captura del vinilo. A mi modesto parecer, creo que este álbum ha sido insuperable en el tópico de la música instrumental antes del Barroco, excelentes arreglos instrumentales, excelentes piezas elegidas y una muy delicada presentación de la caja en que viene los LP. La música es completamente instrumental y muestran toda la gama de instrumentos tanto de la época Medieval como Renacentista.

Este LP a pesar de los años, no consigue aburrirme, ¿lo digo? lo digo: es bonito del verbo bonito.

“ Long, long time ago, still nestled in my warm home, I heard on the radio music of the Renaissance time, I recorded the last part ... in a cassette, the radio announcer says the album is played by David Munrow, for a BBC series about King Henry VIII.

On other occasions I've spoken about Munrow's genius, in its proposal and influence in the ancient music of all time. A week ago I shared with my good and dear friend José Félix, another LP Munrow, interestingly both are soundtracks (it's just coincidence.) Munrow, not only plays, but also a great composer ... the guy, seems to have lived in the Renaissance. Yes, because the last 2 parts are your responsibility "Lute duet" and "Closing music" really wonderful.

Spanish.Hace mucho, mucho tiempo, estando cobijado en mi cálido hogar, escuché en la radio una música del tiempo del Renacimiento, grabé la última parte en un cassette...terminada la música, el locutor radial dice que el álbum escuchado es de David Munrow, para una serie de la BBC sobre el rey Enrique VIII.

Ya en otras ocasiones he hablado de la genialidad de Munrow, en su propuesta e influencia en la música antigua de todos los tiempos. Hace una semana les compartí junto a mi buen y entrañable amigo José Félix otro LP de Munrow, curiosamente ambos son bandas de sonido (es sólo coincidencia). Munrow, no sólo interpreta, sino que también es compositor...el tipo, pareciera que hubiese vivido en el renacimiento. Sí, porque las 2 últimas piezas son de su autoría "Lute duet" y "Closing music", realmente lindas.
