When the "Disco Music" reigned in the early 80's, many of us we were in mourning. But all was not lost!, emerging as a movement that was brewing back to the roots sound, denying the ugly artificial sound drum machine and instrumentation products based on keyboards and synths. In a small town called Windham Hill, William Ackerman founded a folk-ethnic music label called Windham Hill Records... that the proposal is very honest in the beginning, had an undeniable global impact. I remember started listening to this selection called "Sampler '82", I found great performances on acoustic guitar, the piano pieces. This "sampler" without being a "greatest hits" contains the best of this label in music, namely: George Winston, Michael Hedges, Alex de Grassi and certainly Shadowfax.
Of course, it took to copy the idea from other labels and repeat the formula. I would say the best of the so-called New Age was conceived in the early to late 80's.
